Objectives
Measure 8. 6 has as its main objective to improve the economic performance of forest holdings, through:
- investments in the processing and marketing of forestry products (innovative adaptation of technical equipment; creation, modernisation and adaptation of forest nurseries)
- sustainable forestry investments and practices aimed at increasing the economic value of forests (silvicultural interventions aimed at the economic improvement of forests, the recovery and productive enhancement of abandoned, aged or degraded forests; purchase of machinery and equipment)
- drawing up of forest management plans and their equivalent instruments

Selection principles
Submeasure 8.6 is assessed on the basis of a subdivision into macro-criteria, a minimum permissible score of 12 points and a maximum permissible score of up to 100 points, defined as follows:
- territorial areas, specifically for the location of the intervention, the maximum score achievable is 25 points;
- types of operations activated, specifically by type of intervention, the maximum score is 45 points;
- qualification of the beneficiary the maximum score is 30 points.
- In the event of equal points, projects with smaller investments will be financed.
Eligible expenditure
The financing covers the costs incurred for:
- investments in the processing and marketing of forestry products (costs of purchasing or leasing new machinery, equipment, installations; costs of building, modernising and adapting forest nurseries; overheads);
- forestry investments and practices to strengthen and improve the economic value of forests (forestry measures to improve stands in order to improve retractable wood assortments)
- extraordinary silvicultural interventions aimed at changing the specific composition of artificial, abandoned and/or degraded stands; overheads)
- expenditure necessary for the preparation of Forest Management Plans or equivalent instruments.
Scope of support
The support provided for Submeasure 8. 5 provides for a rate of 65%.
