The initiative Rural4School 2017 - 2018, with the involvement of 12 schools (agricultural and professional technicians with agricultural specialization), about 500 young people and 12 farms in Puglia, has allowed to bring young students ("technicians of tomorrow") to the challenges of multifunctional agriculture and the opportunities of RDP for young people. The "Rural4School 2017 - 2018", realized thanks to the collaboration of the Council for Agricultural Research and Analysis of Agricultural Economics (CREA) and ISMEA, offered students the opportunity to experience a concrete experience of school-work alternation and to have an orientation and more information on future prospects in rural development, with a thematic focus on multifunctionality in agriculture.
The initiative was structured in several phases:
- Rural Good: classroom lessons on CAP, multifunctionality and RDP Apulia 2014-2020 themes and field activities with company visits;
- Rural Learn: online training with the e-learning platform of the National Rural Network;
- Rural Camp: innovative format that allowed the direct contact between young students from different regions (Puglia, Piemonte and Basilicata) and local actors (farmers);
- Rural Lab: business laboratory with experts in the field for an in-depth examination of the Business Plan, as an important tool for business planning.

Rural Camp 2018
In this phase 45 students of the fourth and fifth years of the Agricultural Institutes of Puglia, Basilicata and Piedmont were involved in classroom and field training activities with the aim of transferring experiences, knowledge and good practices in rural development, multifunctionality, organic farming and innovation. The Rural Camp took place from 10 to 14 December 2018 in Puglia, involving four companies, chosen as case studies of multifunctional agriculture: Azienda Pantaleo Agricoltura in Fasano, Masseria Cappella in Martina Franca, Azienda Agricola Lemarangi in Mottola, Masseria Terra d'incontro in Casamassima.
